01 — The Farm
Born from a passion for quality lamb
After taking over Leelands in December 2025, the new owners have continued a great journey — building on a legacy of export-quality, honest Southern-reared lamb that has been feeding New Zealand families for years.
Leelands lambs are grown on pasture that is treasured and cared for with sustainability at its core. Natural rock fertilisers are used exclusively, drenching is minimised, and soil and animal health are always front of mind.
“For too long, gourmet export lamb has been unavailable to New Zealanders. At last, you can now enjoy the best.”
02 — The Farming System
Sustainable farming in New Zealand’s deep south
Leelands is raised in Southland — some of New Zealand’s richest and most productive farmland. The farm operates with sustainability and animal welfare as its two guiding principles, using only natural rock fertilisers rather than synthetic inputs.
Drenching is minimised through careful attention to soil health and natural animal health management. The result is lamb raised in conditions that are good for the animals, good for the land, and good for you.
Natural Inputs Only
Only natural rock fertilisers are used. No synthetic chemicals on the pastures that Leelands lambs graze — from soil to plate.
Animal Welfare
Minimised drenching, low-stress handling, and pasture-based farming from start to finish. Welfare is a guiding principle, not an afterthought.
Full Traceability
You buy direct from Leelands — which means you know exactly where your lamb comes from and how it was raised. No middlemen, no mystery.
03 — The Lamb
Export quality, perfectly aged, available to you
Leelands lamb is prepared to export market standards — the same quality that has historically left New Zealand shores before locals ever got the chance to buy it. Now you can order it directly.
Every cut is aged for five days after harvest to develop tenderness and depth of flavour. It is then prepared into convenient cuts for both the home chef and the restaurant market, available 52 weeks of the year.
Many cuts can be cooked and plated in just 30 minutes — see the recipe page for ideas.
