Pasture-raised Wiltshire lamb, from the heart of the city.
Kelmarna Community Farm — Auckland’s pioneering urban organic farm since 1981. 4.5 acres of community-run land in Ponsonby. Limited-batch lamb sales two or three times a year.
Order by the box.
Two or three times a year, Hannah Miller of A Lady Butcher processes Kelmarna’s Wiltshire lambs into pre-portioned boxes. All butchery is done from the whole carcass — so each box is a little different, with a mix of prime and slow-cooking cuts.
Standard Pack
Smaller portions of cuts. A good fit for a couple or small household — enough for a few months of mixed eating without taking over the freezer.
Family Pack
Larger portions across the same cut range. Designed for families or households that cook lamb regularly. Twice the meat at the same per-kg price as the Standard.
Liver, heart, kidneys, bones for broth, and rendered lamb tallow. A nutrient-dense add-on Hannah puts together to keep every part of the animal in use. Limited numbers each batch.

Forty years of urban organic farming.
Founded in 1981, Kelmarna is Auckland’s pioneering urban organic farm — a 4.5-acre working farm on council-leased land in the middle of Ponsonby.
Kelmarna Community Farm is a registered charity (CC51662), run by a small team alongside volunteers, with a mission to support a resilient, healthy community living in a way that regenerates the natural environment — connected to the land, food and each other.
The lamb is one part of a much bigger working farm. Mixed cropping is the primary output — vegetables grown using regenerative methods that go to the on-site Farm Shop and into CSA subscriptions for the surrounding neighbourhood. The animals play a secondary, complementary role: cycling nutrients, managing pasture, closing the loop on food scraps.
Founders Jo-Anne Hazel and Adrian Roche have just written Growing Together — a deeply personal account of the farm’s first 40 years, from a visionary 1981 experiment to today’s thriving hub of sustainable food, education, and therapeutic connection.
An urban farm on a mission to transform our food system. Kelmarna · Ponsonby
Wiltshire lambs, honest pasture.
Three things shape what ends up in your meat box — the lamb, the land it’s raised on, and the butcher who breaks it down.
The Lamb
100% pasture-raised Wiltshire sheep — a self-shedding heritage breed that thrives on grass. Raised using organic methods, though not certified organic (the breeder we source lambs from doesn’t hold certification, so we can’t claim it). What you can claim: nothing but grass, no growth promotants, no shortcuts.
The Land
4.5 acres of land in the middle of Ponsonby, organically managed for over 40 years. Mixed-farming system — plants are the primary output, animals are the complementary role. Long rotations, no chemicals, soil that’s been getting healthier year on year since 1981.
The Butcher
Hannah Miller of A Lady Butcher handles every animal. Whole-carcass butchery, zero-waste philosophy, shared values around regenerative farming and connecting people transparently to their food. The offal add-on is her work — turning everything nutrient-dense into something usable.
Beyond the lamb, a thriving urban farm.
Out the Farm Gate handles the lamb side. Everything else Kelmarna does — and there is a lot — happens through kelmarna.co.nz.
