A small family farm by the Mangaiti Stream
Little Creek Farm sits in the heart of Northland, named after the Mangaiti Stream — meaning “little stream” — which winds its way through our paddocks. It’s been owned and cared for by our family for more than 25 years, and over that time we’ve seen first-hand the benefits regenerative farming brings to both the land and the animals who live on it.
We farm in harmony with nature, following regenerative practices that keep the soil, waterways, and animals healthy and happy. Healthy land produces healthy animals — and in turn, wholesome, flavourful food. Selling our beef directly means we can share exactly what we produce: quality meat, raised locally and sustainably, at fair transparent prices.
“We believe in keeping things local, natural and honest. Healthy land produces healthy animals — and in turn, wholesome, flavourful food.”
100% grass-fed Hereford cattle
Hereford cattle are hardy and docile — they thrive in outdoor, low-stress conditions, and they produce exceptional beef. We raise ours on carefully managed multispecies pasture, where grazing is used to improve soil health, increase biodiversity, and enhance nutrient cycling.
Our cattle are 100% grass-fed and holistically grazed just as nature intended. Daily shifts to fresh pasture mimic natural cattle behaviour and let pastures rest, regenerate, and build deeper roots. The result is high-quality beef that actively contributes to the long-term health and resilience of the land.
Holistic Grazing · Family Farm · Hereford Heritage

What to expect, from order to pickup
A few things worth knowing before you order. Click any question to expand.
The ordering process — start to finish
We sell quarter, half and whole beef carcasses. You pay Little Creek Farm for the carcass, then pay the butcher separately for butchery.
When placing an order, you choose the cuts you want using your cut sheet. We organise everything including selection of the butcher and providing them with your completed sheet. We’re happy to help you complete the cut sheet if you’re unsure what to pick.
We select the animal, harvest on farm, and process to order — we only proceed once we have enough orders to book the mobile abattoir, provided stock is available. Once we confirm a harvest date, you’ll be notified by email. Collection is approximately 2 weeks after harvest — this allows time for the carcass to be hung and dry-aged on the bone for around 10 days, then processed and packaged into your chosen cuts.
Payment terms
- A deposit of $500 is required once you submit your cut sheet to secure your order
- The final carcass amount is due to Little Creek Farm once the animal is slaughtered and weighed
- The butcher’s fee is due to the butcher on or before collection
Why buy farm-harvested beef
Freshness & control. Meat comes straight from the farm — hung and cut the way you want, not shipped around and sitting in a supermarket cold chain for days. You can request your preferred aging.
Transparency & trust. You know exactly where your animal came from — the farm, the breed, the feed and pasture practices. No guessing.
Quality & flavour. Grass-fed, pasture-raised, regenerative beef tastes richer, cleaner, and less “commercial” than supermarket cuts. Better marbling, more consistent texture.
Supporting farmers & local economy. Buying direct means the farmer gets a fair price instead of the supermarket taking the bulk of the margin.
