From our Northland diverse pastured farm to your table, Wild Meadows is proving that farming can restore ecosystems while producing food you can trust.
Wild Meadows is a Tier 3 regenerative, permaculture family farm located on Northland’s West Coast. We raise beef in a way that restores land, supports biodiversity, and delivers exceptional flavour full of healthy nutrients and no nasty chemicals. Our farm sits between rolling pastures and native bush, shaped by coastal air and a landscape that rewards careful, thoughtful management.
We raise cattle using holistic planned grazing that mimics natural herd movement, shifting animals frequently across diverse pastures and allowing pastures to rest and recover before re-grazing. This approach builds healthy, carbon-rich soils, supports soil biology, and keeps cattle calm and stress free, resulting in beef with depth of flavour and real character.
Regenerative farming at Wild Meadows goes beyond beef production. Every animal contributes to a wider ecosystem that supports native birds, beneficial insects, and thriving soil life. By choosing Wild Meadows beef, you’re backing a farming system that strengthens the land, supports local communities, and provides families with honest, grass-fed beef raised the way it should be.

More Details and FAQs
Pricing
How Pricing Works
We sell whole, half and quarter beef carcasses. You pay us for the carcass and then you pay the butcher for the butchery of the carcass.
The current price for a beef carcass is $15.00 per kg including GST. This includes to select and “On Farm Harvest” the animal and deliver the carcass to the butcher. Note carcass pricing is subject to change. The advertised beef carcass price at the time you pay your deposit is the price you pay and won’t change.
The butchers fee is around $2 per kg carcass weight including GST plus around $7 to $9 per kg for processed plain sausages. Without choosing extra sausages you can expect to get approximately 10% of the carcass weight back in sausages. This is due to there always being sausage trim as part of breaking down a carcass. Including sausages the total approximate fee for butchery is around $3/kg including GST. Additional charges apply for flavoured sausages, corning, seasoning and any other extras such as extra sausages, and salami, patties etc if the butcher offers these. See more on butchers prices below.
Note: the carcass weight is recorded by the micro abattoir at the time of slaughter and the price you pay is calculated based on this weight.
Note: you are purchasing a carcass so all the fat and bones are included if you want them.
Note: All prices are GST inclusive unless otherwise stated
Offal and Offal Prices
The offal, organs, cheeks, tail etc are not part of the weighed carcass you are purchasing but are available to purchase on a first in first serve basis, otherwise they are sold elsewhere. Please note on your cut sheet what offal you would like and these will be provided if available.
The tongue, heart, liver and kidneys are sold at the carcass rate less $2/kg. The cheeks and oxtail are sold at $23/kg. If you want the tongue corned this can be done by the butcher which may incur an additional charge.
Butchers Pricing
The base price for processing is approximately $2 to $2.25/kg carcass weight depending on the butcher.
Sausages are approximately $7/kg to 9/kg (gourmet flavours are in the higher range). You can expect approximately 10% of the carcass weight in sausages without choosing extra sausages.
Prices for extras and small goods are:
- Corning – either included in base fee or around $5 to $10 dollars.
- Burger patties and breakfast sausages are approximately $9 to $10/kg
- Salami is approximately $14 to $17 each
- Biersticks are approximately $16/kg
- Diced beef – included in base fee or $5-$6/kg
Note: Prices vary depending on the butcher but most butchers are competitively priced. All above prices are GST inclusive.
Pricing Example
As it’s similar to home kill the animal carcass weight varies depending on the animal selected for harvest but generally a carcass will weigh approximately 250 to 300kg. You can calculate your likely costs from this. i.e. if you want a half beast and its carcass weight at harvest is 250kg your price would be $15.00 x 125kg $1875.00, or $3750 for a whole beast, plus the butchers fees. To give you an idea of cost including the butchers fees for standard processing of $2/kg, the price would be $17 x 125kg $2125 for a half and $4350 for a whole beef, plus sausages of around $112 for half beef and $224 for a whole beef. For a quarter of a 250kg beef carcass please divide the price for a whole by 4 to get your expected cost.

Ordering
How Ordering Works
We sell whole, half and quarter beef carcasses. You pay us for the carcass and then you pay the butcher for the butchery of the carcass.
When placing an online order you choose the cuts you want to have the carcass processed then we organise everything else for you, including selection of the butcher and providing them with your completed cut sheet. We can even assist you in completing the cut sheet if you are unsure what cuts and options to choose.
We select the animal, “On Farm Harvest” (Slaughter) and process to order so we only proceed once we have enough orders to be able to book the mobile abattoir, provided we have stock available at the time you place your order. Once we confirm enough orders and book a slaughter date, you will be notified via email of this date. Collection of your meat order is approximately 2 to 3 weeks following slaughter. The 2 to 3 weeks allows time for the carcass to be hung and AGED for around 10 days and processed and packaged into the cuts you have chosen.
The butchers we are currently working with are De Bauchery in Tikipunga for Whangarei area orders and Sausages by Design in Silverdale to service Auckland customers. Other butchers may be used depending on availability. You collect your order from one of the butchers, depending on your location.
To confirm an order all you need to do is place your order online. Then once we have enough orders to proceed we will contact you with a slaughter date and request payment of your deposit to secure your order.

Below is what you can expect to get in an order. Some have options you can choose from and others such as mince and sausages are just part of honouring the whole animal.
- Eye Fillet – Whole, Half or Steak
- Sirloin – Whole, Half or Steak
- Scotch Fillet – Whole, Half or Steak
- Rump – Whole, Half or Steak

About

Holistic Grazing
We use holistic rotational grazing to improve soil health, pasture quality, and animal welfare. By moving our cattle regularly across paddocks, pastures are allowed to rest and regenerate, building deeper roots and increasing organic matter. This process strengthens the land, supports thriving soil ecosystems, and produces healthier, grass-fed cattle. The result is nutrient-rich, flavorful regenerative beef, naturally raised on a farm committed to sustainability and care.

Family Farm
A Healthy Place for Our Children to Learn and Grow
Our farm is a safe, natural environment where our children can connect with the land, nature, and the principles of regenerative farming. They have the freedom to explore, learn, and understand where their food comes from, observing how we grow fruit, vegetables, eggs, and meat using all-natural regenerative and permaculture methods.
We also welcome our community and customers to visit the farm, giving everyone a chance to see firsthand how ethical, sustainable farming works and experience the connection between soil, plants, animals, and people.

Well Grown Beef Cattle
At Wild Meadows, we follow strong permaculture principles and make the most of existing resources. We select well-bred beef-cross cattle from dairy farms, giving them a full, healthy life on our farm instead of sending them to the abattoir as calves. From the moment they arrive, our cattle graze diverse, nutrient-rich pastures and are rotated daily onto fresh paddocks. This natural, stress-free system produces tender, nutrient-dense beef that truly tastes the difference — a reflection of happy animals and healthy land.
