01 โ The Story
Three locals. One farm. Handcrafted in small batches.
Matakana Tallow Co was founded by three locals with a shared belief in natural, traditional skincare. Their tallow is sourced from a single local farm right here in Matakana โ beef fat that has never left the region โ rendered six times for exceptional purity before being blended with coconut oil, Vitamin E oil, and pure essential oils.
Unlike larger brands that may use fat from multiple sources, Matakana Tallow Co’s small-batch approach means every jar is batch traceable to the individual animal. What goes in is exactly what it says โ nothing more.
“Made by local hands. We source only local beef fat that’s never left the Matakana region โ rendered six times for purity. Natural, no chemicals & artificial fragrances.”
02 โ Why Tallow?
Nature’s oldest moisturiser โ backed by science
Tallow is pure rendered beef fat that has been used in skincare for hundreds of years. Before modern lotions existed, people relied on tallow to moisturise, protect, and heal the skin โ and for good reason.
Tallow’s composition is very similar to the oils naturally found in human skin, which makes it exceptionally well absorbed. It won’t sit on top of the skin like many synthetic lotions โ it works with your skin’s biology.
Rich in Vitamins
Naturally rich in vitamins A, D, E and K โ supporting cell repair, boosting moisture, protecting against dryness, and strengthening the skin barrier.
Powerful Antioxidants
Contains antioxidants and skin-loving fatty acids including oleic, palmitic and stearic acid โ helping soothe inflammation, repair damaged skin, and lock in moisture.
Deep Hydration
Similar composition to human skin oils โ deeply moisturising and easily absorbed. Won’t clog pores for most skin types (rates 2 on non-comedogenic scale).
